Astrometry, Pearson Distributions, Degrees Of Freedom, Position Errors

The mathematical forms of the Student distribution (number of degrees of
freedom, nu) and the Pearson Type VII distribution (degree index, m) are
shown to be identical for the case m = (nu + 1)/2. It is recommended
that this be considered when the Pearson Type VII distribution is used
in astrometry.
