The relationship between solar Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) and other solar activity, such as flares and prominences, is not yet clear. Recent analyses have highlighted the complexity of the initial stages of the CME, and this has demanded a reexamination of past studies where clear relationships were claimed. A number of studies are shown where preconceived ideas have damaged the interpretation of the data. The message is one of caution, for both reader and researcher, to recognize bias in CME analyses.
