It is shown that the production of Langmuir waves from ion sound by the
turbulent bremsstrahlung mechanism can be more effective than the
destruction of the Langmuir waves by the Dawson-Oberman resistivity.
Previous conclusions to the contrary are in error owing to the neglect
of the wave-number dependence of the ion-sound waves.
