It is argued that the petrological and chemical study of Muong Nong-type tektites by Koeberl (1992) fails to mention the fact that the Muong Nong-type tektites bear an extraordinary resemblance to extruded terrestrial volcanic glasses. He overlooks the extraterrestrial igneous chemical trends found in all tektite glasses. In his reply Koeberl states that the Muong Nong material can be formed as a glass having dimensions appreciably larger than the usual samples and that sintering or agglomeration of smaller particles of the material is not required to produce bodies of the observed size.
