Mid-Infrared Observations, Astronomical Instruments
Scientific paper
COMICS is an instrument to operate in the mid-infrared spectral region for the Subaru telescope. Thanks to the Subaru telescope capability, COMICS currently achieves the highest performance among mid-infrared instruments with other telescopes. Mid-infrared observations are a rather new field in astronomy. In the present article, an overview of mid-infrared observations with ground-based telescopes is given based on COMICS observations, which provide us with a new eye to look at the universe.
