The icy nucleus agglomerate model of cometary nuclei, which proposed the sublimation of ices to propel dust grains by gas drag, was developed to give an effective tool for the prediction of anticipated fluxes during the near-perihelion encounters of Comet P/Halley. Spacecraft data has generally given good support for the fountain model, although it was soon evident that the fountain was neither constant in time nor spatially isotropic. More advanced modeling on certain aspects was performed for the larger particles and, using improved modeling, the situation of a gas driven coma is now evaluated for a near aphelion encounter as proposed for the ESA Rosetta mission.
