Scientific paper

In this paper we compared three cometary breakups observed at the Comenius University observatory in Modra, Slovakia. First event observed in Dec 1995 and Jan 1996 was splitting of 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 into several active fragments. Secondly we analysed disintegration of C/1999 S4 (LINEAR) that occurred in July/August 2000. We focused on several important dates, e.g. July 7 and 14 after sudden increase of its activity, July 25 and 26 shortly after beginning of the breakup event and finally we examined images taken on Aug 1. Third comet was 51P/Harrington which split in two parts of almost the same brightness on Dec, 2001.
