Observations made of the periodic Comet d'Arrest from the time of its discovery in 1851 through the present are outlined. The comet is expected to attain its minimum recorded distance from the earth, 0.15 A.U., in mid-August, 1976. Among the investigations planned for this apparition are an attempt to make radar contact and sets of observations to assess the brightness-surge model.
