A natural sequel to the five Halley flyby missions would be a more intensive exploration of the comet nucleus. Dust and gas can be captured from comets by a highly-simplified, free-return, flyby mission. Coma sample return can be a technically and scientifically sound, low-cost precursor to the return of a pristine sample from a comet nucleus. Comet flyby opportunities with very low encounter speeds make possible the return of comet coma samples in less than a decade a real possibility.
