Two-fluid calculations of the shock structure in accreting magnetic white dwarfs are presented. An approximate form of the high velocity, non-local, electron leak was included in the cooling. The results imply a higher ratio of soft X-rays to hard X-rays than the well-known radiative models. The authors suggest this could be the solution to the so-called soft X-ray puzzle.
