Colors in a variety of broadband and narrow-band systems have been computed for a grid of extended model photospheres of M giants. These synthetic colors are analyzed for sensitivity to gravity, temperature, extension, and metallicity. Comparisons are also made with observations. There is good agreement between the temperature scale for M giants based on lunar occultation data and that derived from the synthetic colors and the model temperatures. Theoretical supergiant and asymptotic giant branches are also presented.
