We are proposing to obtain basic photometric color data (B, V, R) on an unusual subclass of Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) and Centaurs - those with high inclination. There are 162 of these distant objects known which can be classified as high inclination objects - those which we (somewhat arbitrarily) define as having inclinations over 20 degrees. These objects include scattered KBOs, Centaurs and resonant KBOs. Of the 162 objects, only 46 already have measured visible colors reported in the literature. Of the remaining 116, twenty-two have very poor orbits making them impossible to find and 31 are probably too faint for the Blanco/Mayall telescopes. The remaining 63, if observed, would more than double the number of high inclination objects with color measures currently known. I am proposing to make a start at observing 44 of these 63 objects with the Mayall & Blanco 4-m telescopes. The remaining 19 are bright enough that I intend to observe them using the Lowell Observatory 1.8-m telescope as a compliment to the 4-m observations. We will obtain B, V, R colors for as many of these targets as we can. Given enough objects with colors, we can see if these objects appear to be similar (or different) and to compare them with other subgroups of KBOs. We will also improve the correlation of color with inclination (if any) of these subgroups of distant objects.
