A new map of the color index C(0.95/0.75 m) is constructed for the visible hemisphere of the Moon by digital processing of photometric data. Errors caused by large-scale nonuniformities of images are corrected by independent photometry. A comparison of the colorimetric image with discrete spectrometric data from the catalog by Pieters (1977) shows good agreement (the correlation coefficient is 0.83 for 240 compared areas). A colorimetric catalog is presented for 100 lunar areas characterized by a close correlation between the color indices determined from our image and Pieters' data. Our catalog can be used for independent calibration of cosmic data, in particular, the Clementine images. An area in the dark spot located at the center of the lunar disk (6.8 degN, 8.2 degW) has the highest IR color index, C(0.95/0.75 microns) = 1.20. The bright spot in crater Deslandres (33.0 degS, 4.2 degW) exhibits the lowest color index, C(0.95/0.75 microns) = 0.94. An albedo (0.75 micron)-color index (0.95/0.75 m) diagram is constructed for the visible hemisphere of the Moon, and a cluster analysis of this diagram is performed. The optical types of the lunar rocks are mapped from the results of this analysis. On the basis of this diagram, the lunar-rock types are mapped by the frequency of the occurrence of various albedo-color index combinations.
