The one zone model together with published model atmospheres is used to study the general properties of color index variations during the pulsation cycle. A first interesting result concerning the Stromgren m(1)-index is presented. The shape of the small amplitude curve of the m(1)-index appears to be closely related to the mean atmospheric parameters, T(e) and log g(e), and to the chemical composition. This could explain the variety of the m(1)-index curves observed in RR Lyrae and high amplitude Delta Scuti stars.
