It is shown that in rotating stellar systems, where the equilibrium in
the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation is defined by the
equality of two forces, gravitational and centrifugal, non-linear
stellar waves (solitary waves) are possible. The presence of small
dissipative terms can transform the solitary waves into shock-waves.
