A gravitational impulsive plane wave and a thin plane shell of null dust, after colliding in flat spacetime, focus each other on a point and a circle, respectively. The gravitational wave is transformed into a spherical one. The spacetime remains flat even after the collision. It does not extend to spatial infinity in all directions, but fills a cylinder of the same radius as the circular focus.
