We study the collisions of compact objects induced by neutron star (NS) birth kicks. If a binary system survives the first supernova (SN) explosion, in some cases the second SN may place the stellar remnants into bound highly eccentric orbits. The two compact objects will tidally interact and quickly spiral into each other. We expect such encounters to happen within a few days since the SN explosion, though a significant delay is also foreseen.
