Results are presented on a study of young stellar objects (YSOs) embedded in the dense Rho Ophiuchi cloud core, carried out with the IRAM 30-m millimeter radio telescope (MRT) equipped with the MPIfR bolometer. The observations at 1.3 mm led to a positive detection of millimeter emission in 16 of the 20 objects observed. The emission is considered to be due to optically thin radiation by cold dust associated with circumstellar material around YSOs. It was found that the 1.3-mm flux and the circumstellar dust mass range over a factor greater than 100 for different YSOs. No correlation was found between the 1.3 mm emission and the NIR excess of the objects, suggesting that IR data alone do not fully characterize the circumstellar material surrounding YSOs.
