The Great Observatories All-sky LIRG Survey (GOALs) targets a completes ample of Luminous Infrared Galaxies
(LIRGs). These systems are predominantly interacting galaxies covering the entire range of the merger sequence. GOALs is a comprehensive survey combining multi-wavelength datasets from UV to mid-IR with theoretical N-body and SPH simulations to paint a complete picture of the fate of gas and stars in interacting galaxies.
We will present CARMA observations on 8 galaxies comparing the distribution of cold molecular gas with these of dust heated by star-formation as traced in IRAC 8 micron maps. We will also compare the cold gas mass to that of the warm molecular hydrogen from observations of the pure rotational transitions of molecular hydrogen in the MIR. We use the IRS MIR spectra to determine the mass and temperature of the warm gas. A wide range of ratios of the H2 to the IR luminosities between 7e-5 and 1.7e-3 with a median of 2e- is found and there seems to be a weak correlation between the warm H2 mass and IR luminosity. The derived H2 temperatures seem to change with merger stage in that advanced mergers appear to have higher excitation temperatures. We compare the results obtained for the GOALS sources to similar studies of nearby galaxies and ULIRGs.
