We give preliminary results of the results of a coherence study between SOHO MDI data and Ulysses magnetic field data for May 1996 to April 1998. The SOHO data are two series of MDI l = 1, m = 0, and m = +/-1 coefficients. Significant coherences are observed between the two spacecraft, with many of the peak coherences occurring at the same frequencies previously noted in Thomson et al. (1995) from analysis of charged particle data from Ulysses. The highest coherences occur at frequency offsets compatible with the different orbits of the two spacecraft. Candidate frequencies for the 1, 0, -5 and 1, 0, -3 modes are 103.44 μHz and 157.64μHz, respectively.
