Mirrors: Coatings
Scientific paper
The authors describe the first aluminization of the 8.3-m primary mirror of the Subaru Telescope. The coating facility is located at the basement of Sumaru Telescope enclosure at the summit of Mauna Kea. Witness mirrors coated at the same time show the characteristics of the reflective film as follows: 1) Thickness of the aluminum film is 1250±60 Å. 2) Reflectivity values are 90±1% at 500 nm and 96±1% at 2.2 micron.
