The authors report observations of 14 sources from the IRAS Circular No. 9 in the J = 1→0 line of 12CO. They detect wide lines in two sources and identify these objects as previously unknown carbon stars. Strong 12CO lines are also observed towards two additional sources near which H2O masers have previously been detected. These sources mark sites where star formation has recently occurred.
