Planetary Nebulae: Carbon Monoxide

Scientific paper

The authors present new observations of CO(1-0) line emission in ten planetary nebulae with the 13.7 m telescope of the Purple Mountain Observatory at the Qinghai Station, including the first CO(1-0) observations of NGC 6445, M1-59, M4-9 and M2-51 which have already been observed in CO(2-1), and the first confirmed detections in CO for Sh2-71 and M4-18 which have not been detected in previous CO surveys. The others, V-V1-8, M2-52, He2-459 and K3-31 are newly detected planetary nebulae with CO(1-0) emission. From the CO spectra, the authors suggest that V-V1-8 is an object misclassified as a planetary nebula.
