We present initial measurements of the evolution of the galaxy two-point correlation function for galaxies in the COSMOS 2 sq.deg. field. Photometric redshifts have been estimated using 7-band CCD imaging over the whole field, obtained at CFHT (U), SUBARU (BVriz) and KPNO/CTIO (K) and used to compute the projected correlation function wp(rp) in broad redshift slices. Considering an IAB<24 magnitude-limited sample, the amplitude of the corresponding real-space correlation function does not evolve appreciably out to z=1. This agrees with recent findings from the spectroscopic VVDS and DEEP2 surveys and is understood in terms of the combined effect of the growth of structure, the evolution of galaxy bias and the dependence of the latter on galaxy luminosity.
The next step in this analysis will be to exploit the unique feature of COSMOS, i.e. its unprecedented ability to measure galaxy morphological types (and thus their respective clustering) via the complete HST-ACS coverage of the 2 sq.degree field.
