At least four of the Seyfert galaxies listed in the Zwicky catalog (NGC 1275, Mrk 298, Mrk 423, III Zw 77) belong to rich Abell clusters. This proportion would agree with the relative abundance of cluster members and field galaxies if both populations have the same percentage of Seyferts. The Seyferts in clusters may form a special subgroup of objects, differing from other Seyferts in their morphological properties and perhaps their line-broadening mechanism.
