In radio astronomy, interferometer techniques with moderately sized widely spaced antennas are used to obtain position, flux, and other source parameters. However, for practical reasons, it is often impossible to cover uniformly the Fourier plane (i.e., the U-V plane). Holes in the U-V plane show up as undesirable sidelobes in the synthesized beam, and many problems are involved in the reduction of irregularly spaced interferometer measurements. The aim of the reduction methods is to produce a map which, as far as possible, is equivalent to that obtained by regular coverage of the U-V plane. To meet this aim, two packages of FORTRAN programs for applying Hogbom's (1974) Clean and Restore procedure to Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope observations and Bologna Northern Cross observations are presented.
