Mira Stars: Classification, Mira Stars: Light Curves, Mira Stars: Hipparcos
Scientific paper
On the basis of the analysis of light curves of 223 Mira Ceti type long period variable stars registered by Hipparcos, it is shown, that all these stars by external shape of their light curves can be devided into two groups: stars, showing simple light curves of the sine wave form, and stars with complex light curves, with hump-shaped formations on the increasing branch of the curve. It is shown, that some observational parameters of the studied stars display the tendency of grouping to the groups of stars with complex and simple light curves. The stars with complex light curves have large periods, by absolute bolometric magnitudes they are brighter and for them the probability of detection of the light polarization is higher.
