The author's (1978) previously described approach is applied to Lagrangian systems with two degrees of freedom for the purpose of classifying unstable periodic orbits. The only restrictions are that the system must be conservative and that the periodic orbit velocity must always be different from zero. Conjugated families and focal points are examined, and the number of focal points is calculated.
