The authors report the detection of circular polarization in the T Tauri stars RY Tau, T Tau and SU Aur, with a signal-to-noise of 5 - 7. Two other T Tauri stars (DG Tau, FU Ori) were also observed with the same accuracy, and the circular polarization was found to be essentially zero. An interstellar, or a mixed intrinsic-interstellar, origin seems to be excluded. Most likely, both multiple scattering and scattering by aligned nonspherical grains occur in different stars.
