The possible objectives of heavy ion observation in the solar wind and the measurement possibilities of the Helios plasma experiment are discussed. The unintentional recording of heavy ions can be made useful for several reasons, among which the knowledge of transport phenomena between photosphere and corona. The possibility is considered of three dimensional measurement of the solar wind spectrum with the 15-channel mass spectrometer, and also the temperature of heavy ions.
