Vega 1 and 2 X-ray radiometer measurements indicate that the Venus atmosphere may contain phosphorus oxides which are products of hypergenesis processes or possibly volcanic activity. The active participation of phosphorus oxides in redox processes leads to the formation of profiles of water vapor, carbon dioxide, and sulfur-containing components of the atmosphere. A layered structure of phosphoric-acid aerosols alternating with sulfur aerosol is formed on the night side of the planet at heights of 46.5-51.5 km. In addition, it is found that a tier of chlorine-containing aerosol is formed at heights of 52.3-56.5 km under conditions of a more reductive medium. The upper tier of clouds consists of alternating layers of sulfur- and chlorine-containing aerosols.
