This paper presents high S/N spectra of red giant branch (RGB) stars in the Andromeda spiral galaxy (M31) obtained as part of our Keck/DEIMOS spectroscopic survey. The spectra cover the wavelength range ˜ 6500-9000Å and have a resolution (FWHM) of about 1.3Å or R ˜ 7000. We explore chemical abundance patterns among the most metal poor of M31's RGB stars. Stars are grouped according to their position in a color-magnitude diagram and their spectra are coadded to achieve higher S/N. The groupings are done separately for members of different structural components within M31: inner spheroid, outer halo, disk, giant southern stream, dwarf satellites, etc. This allows us to carry out a comparative study of the chemical enrichment histories of various subcomponents within M31.

Keck Observatory, which is operated as a scientific partnership among Caltech, the Univ of California and NASA. The Observatory was made possible by the generous financial support of the W.M. Keck Foundation.
