The point discharge current below dust storms at Roorkee, India were measured with an artificial point raised 15.8 m above the ground. The results show that a negative charge of 1177 C/sq km/year can be transferred to the earth by point discharge during dust storms. The particular regions of the earth's surface where this process occurs and the possible net charge transfer to earth in these regions are considered.
