We provide an optical spectroscopic study of 100 objects with 8-micron infrared excesses selected from the Galactic Legacy Infrared MidPlane Survey Extraordinaire (GLIMPSE) from the Spitzer Space Telescope. Spectroscopic data of these objects were taken with the Wyoming Infrared Observatory (WIRO) 2.3 m telescope using a multi-fiber spectrograph in the 5750 Å - 7150 Å region. Equivalent width measurements of Hα and upper limits on the Li I 6708 Å line are used to discriminate between protostars and main sequence objects. The 8-micron excess objects show a diversity of spectral signatures with about three quarters having Hα in emission. The data are part of a larger program to characterize the nature of IR excess sources in the GLIMPSE survey.
