The subsonic transition of the solar wind is analyzed using a self-consistent nonlinear model which allows for the effects of galactic cosmic rays and charge transfer on solar wind deceleration. The analysis involves investigating the behavior of the integral curves of a differential equation for the Mach number of the solar wind in the vicinity of singular points. It is noted that although a continuous transition is possible in principle the probability that it actually occurs is low.
