Cellulose diacetate filters on Venera-12 made it possible to collect aerosols in the Venus cloud layer with an efficiency close to 100%. An X-ray analysis method made it possible to identify the phase states of chemical elements in the Venus clouds. A comparison of the present results with Pioneer-Venus data shows that the sum of measured elements in the 49-58 km altitude range possibly does not exceed 10% of the total aerosol mass. Most of the aerosol mass in this altitude range probably consists of chemical elements having Z less than 13.
