Using a statistical method based on the change of the shape (slope) of the two-point correlation function, we find that there are some characteristic scales in the distribution of QSO Ly-alpha- and CIV-absorption systems. The scales are in good agreement with the typical scales found in the distribution of galaxies and clusters of galaxies (Mo et al. 1991), if we use a Friedmann model with q0 = 0.2 - 0.6 (and zero cosmological constant).
