The aim of the present proposal is to complete the quasi-simultaneous X-ray/optical spectroscopic observation programme of Changing Type Seyfert galaxies we started in AO3 and continued in AO4. This variable type of AGN are the best candidates to test whether the apparent mismatch between X-ray absorption and optical spectral type (attributable to reddening) in some AGN is real or due to changes in the source properties. Besides the simultaneous observations, we will perform delayed optical spectroscopy to account for possible time lags between changes in the X-ray source and optical emission line regions.
