The ATON 2.0 stellar evolution code (Ventura et al. 1998, A&A 334, 953 and references therein) is currently undergoing a series of improvements regarding both its micro- and macro-physics. In the current code version, rotation was implemented according to Kippenhahn's equipotential surfaces method, while angular momentum transport in radiative zones was implemented according to the general framework established by Zahn (1992, A&A 265, 115) and co-workers. The computed models cover both the pre-main sequence and main sequence phases. Some of these improvements are aimed at two very important goals, namely the coupling of modern atmosphere models, like non-grey atmosphere, to the main code and the inclusion of magnetic field generation due to the interaction between rotation and convection. To accomplish those goals without incurring in excessive execution times, the code's software structure must also be changed to allow both implicit and explicit code parallelization, as well as some other facilities such as checkpointing. In order to improve the code, we have made use of analysing tools for Fortran 77 codes, checking for non initialized variables, converting the whole code to double precision, and controling the memory use for implementing a working mechanism for check-points. This work presents a short discussion of the ongoing efforts related to those changes and some recent results on internal angular momentum redistribution.
