The Swan bands of the C_2 molecules, located at 513 and 516 nm can be used as a tracer of the C_2 excitation temperature in a cometary coma. The ratio of the signal obtained at these two wavelengths (I(513)/I(516)), after subtraction of the continuum, is correlated with the rotational excitation temperature : the higher the ratio is, the higher the excitation temperature is. We used the 1.93-m telescope of the Observatoire de Haute-Provence (France) with a spectrometer and the 1.20-m telescope in imaging mode (with interference filters). The variation of the C_2 excitation temperature is shown for Comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp. The results reveal some significant changes in this parameter, mainly with the cometocentric distance, interpreted as "fresh" C_2 molecules reaching slowly their fluorescence equilibrium. The results obtained with these Comets confirm those already obtained in Halley's Comet ( Rousselot et al., A&A 1994) and Comets P/Tempel 2 and P/Schaumasse (Rousselot at al., Icarus 1995).
