We present the optical photometry and spectroscopy results of the Chandra Multiwavelength Plane (ChaMPlane) Survey (see abstract by Grindlay, et al.). ChaMPlane is a project to identify a large sample of serendipitous X-ray sources in deep galactic plane fields imaged by the Chandra X-ray Observatory in order to determine the populations of accretion-powered binaries in the Galaxy. The ChaMPlane Optical Survey is one of NOAO's Long Term Survey Programs. So far we have conducted the ChaMPlane survey in 24 Chandra fields and obtained deep images in the V, R, I and Hα bands from the CTIO and KPNO 4-m telescopes with the Mosaic camera, with a total coverage of more than eight square degrees in the galactic plane. Cataclysmic Variables (CVs) and quiescent Low Mass X-ray Binaries (qLMXBs) are identified as Hα excess objects. Several thousand serendipitous X-ray sources are detected. A significant fraction (more than 50% for moderately reddened fields) of their optical counterparts are identified in the Mosaic images. Spectroscopic follow-ups for the Chandra optical counterparts and Hα emission sources have been conducted on 14 of the fields using the WIYN (3.5-m) and Magellan (6.5-m) telescopes. Several new CVs, including the first X-ray-CV, Be-HMXB, and many new AGNs have been found. All the ChaMPlane data will be eventually available to the public in a ChaMPlane Data Archive. We will show our plan for establishing this Database. This work is supported by NASA/SAO grant AR1-2001X and NSF grant AST-0098683.
