We report the results of a 60 ks imaging observation of the nearby (D=33 Mpc) giant elliptical galaxy IC1459 with Chandra ACIS-S. IC1459 is notable in that it hosts a massive Black Hole at its nucleus, with a radio-loud compact AGN. This AGN is peculiar in having only weak signatures of activity in the optical/UV, and relatively faint X-ray emission, with a hard component detected with ASCA. With Chandra we can clearly isolate all the X-ray emission components of this galaxy. We detect bright nuclear emission, a population of point-like sources, most likely X-ray binaries, and diffuse emission from a hot ISM. We will discuss these results in the talk, and their implications for the nature of the nuclear source. This work was partially supported by the NASA Chandra GO program
