We have obtained a 10ks CHANDRA ACIS-I observation of NGC1399 and the Fornax cluster and have set tight upper bounds on the presence of nuclear point sources in NGC1399 and NGC1404. These limits disagree with some previous analyses of ASCA data. We will present a preliminary catalog of small (r<15") and point-like sources in the field and those likely to be associated with NGC1399.
