It is shown that the number of redshift systems based on C IV doublets,
proposed by Boroson et al. (1978) in the absorption spectrum of the
quasar PKS 0237-23, is insignificantly different from that that would be
expected from chance coincidences. Consequently, these systems and their
z-values appear to be devoid of any physical significance.
