Scientific objectives in space physics are discussed for solar
wind-magnetospheric interactions, magnetospheric phenomena,
magnetospheric-ionospheric interactions, and using the magnetosphere as
a plasma laboratory. Particular attention is given to the constraints on
AMPS to satisfy these scientific objectives.
