Attention is given to those asteroids classified by Kozai (1979) which are most fully represented in the TRIAD (Tucson Revised Index of Asteroid Data) file. A comparative analysis is made of the optical characteristics, size and angular-velocity distributions, and kinematic properties of asteroids forming families. An attempt is made to describe the evolution of asteroid families on the basis of observational data.
