Estimates are given for the Cerenkov redshifts of Balmer lines in quasars and AGNs. It is found that the quasar high-ionization broad emission lines, such as C IV 1549 A, are blueshifted with respect to the neutral hydrogen and low-ionization broad bands. A line-emission mechanism, the Cerenkov line radiation (You et al., 1986) is used to explain broad emission lines of quasars.
