Four hundred and eighty-one UBVRI observations of the beat Cepheid U TrA obtained in the 1977 season are reported. The V luminosities have been Fourier analyzed to provide both improved estimates for the periods, and amplitude and phase values for the double-mode Fourier terms. A comparison with extensive observations made 18 years ago indicates that there has been a redistribution of pulsation energy in favor of the first overtone at the expense of the fundamental. It is postulated that this is not due to mode-switching, but rather to the intermode coupling that exists between the two pulsations.
