The energy loss due to gravitational radiation (bremsstrahlung) is analyzed in the case of scattering of two classical point particles having an arbitrary interaction potential. It is shown that the calculations can be performed within the quadrupole appoximations of Einstein's linearized theory, and no cutoff parameters are required. The gravitational luminosity of the sun is estimated near 10 to the 16th erg per sec.
