All published X-ray data are consistent with the hypothesis that Cen X-3
is in a low state every 27 days. The probability that this effect could
be due to random sampling is only 0.01. If, as suggested by several
other arguments, an accretion disk is present near Cen X-3, the disk may
be responsible for this periodic behavior.
